Welcome to our wedding website!

This website is dedicated as a thank you to so many of our friends and family who wish us well in our new married life.  The site contains memorabilia, photos of the event, anecdotes and background stories so you can remember the day's events with us or, if you were unable to attend, vicariously join in the festivities.

The Basics

Brad Cooper and Robin Hagel, both of St. Augustine, were married on July 8th, 2006 at 7:30 pm at the St. Augustine Boating Club in Vilano Beach, FL.  The ceremony was officiated by Joseph Iannelli, a family friend.   Attending Robin as her Matron of Honor was Kaye Moody and Ja Gilmore served as Brad's Best Man.

Brad and Robin first met back in 1973, probably just in passing, at St. Johns Country Day School, where Robin was a upperclassman thinking about her impending graduation and Brad was a few years behind trying to stay away from math classes and goofing off in Latin.  Many years later, in 2005, the two crossed paths again, this time on the Internet.  Brad was attracted not only to her profile, but also to a passing reference to St. Johns CDS.  His curiosity piqued, he contacted her and that began a long electronic correspondence.  They finally met face-to-face on July 4th, 2005 at Vilano Beach, followed by a long lunch at Cap's and the rest is history.

The Event

When Robin and Brad decided to wed, the ceremony became the focus of attention.  They bounced back and forth between a shipboard wedding, a wedding at a resort somewhere in the Caribbean or a local ceremony.  With the number of friends and family that were so happy for us and wanting to share in that joy, it was decided that a local ceremony would be best.    Joseph Iannelli, organist with JW Gilmore and The Blues Authority (the band Brad plays in) volunteered to officiate the ceremony and the hunt was on for a venue.  Since neither Robin nor Brad are terribly fond of stuffy, formal ceremony, it was quickly decided that an informal "party with a 10 minute ceremony break" was the best way to go.  A former employee of Robin who has a catering business on the side was selected as caterer and the St. Augustine Boating Club (where Brad's father is a member), with it's good size, decent parking, casual atmosphere and spectacular view of the Intracoastal. was selected as the location.

A better day could not have been chosen.  With high temperatures in the mid 80's, a great breeze and no rain, it was a rare, perfect July day.  We got started a bit before 6, with wine, beer, mojitos and margaritas flowing.   As the sun started setting, we gathered at the riverbank and Robin and Brad exchanged their vows.  After a few minutes of toasts and family pictures, we went back inside for dinner and dancing.  Since there was a live band, it wasn't too long before Brad wound up with a bass in his hands and was joined by JW Gilmore and the rest of The Blues Authority for a blues break and then some jazz with Brad's old bandmates from DC.  The party ended around 10 or so, and Brad and Robin began a new life together.

After the Party

Since Robin started a new job a few days after the ceremony, we decided to postpone the honeymoon.  We'll probably wind up cruising the Caribbean or Napa Valley sometime late in the year, but those plans are all up in the air.   We're just happy to be home with Baxter, chasing the wild chickens, vegging out at the beach and enjoying life together.
